Labour members in Belmore ward have now selected their candidates for the upcoming Hillingdon Council elections which take place on May 5th 2022.
Members have selected: Labina Basit, Narinder Garg, Jagjit Singh.
Labina Basit
Labina is a single mother, teaches at secondary level, and is a member of Unite and UCU unions. She was selected for the 2021 Labour Muslim Network Leadership Programme, which aims to create strong leaders for our communities. She has a Computer Science with Management degree, and more recently a Masters in Business Administration.
She has organised and taken part in London wide campaigns to raise awareness of human rights, crime and environmental issues, and has helped refugees and domestic violence victims locally to access support from their local Council and MP.
Narinder Garg
Narinder previously represented the former Yeading ward from 2014 to 2018 and has over twenty years experience working in finance. As a councillor, Narinder sat on the then Corporate Services & Partnership Committee and also represented local residents at Council petitions and took pride in ensuring the ward was kept clean and as safe as possible.
Narinder endeavours to work in partnership with ward residents for the betterment of Belmore ward. Narinder has a proactive approach and is a fierce advocate for social justice.
Jagjit Singh
Jagjit has lived in Hillingdon since 1997 and works as a manager in a multinational catering company at London Heathrow. Jagjit has been serving all his residents as a councillor since 2014.
Since then he has been a member on various committees such as Planning, Children, Young people and Learning, Religious education and the Yeading Valley working party.
Jagjit has a strong connection with local residents and the local community and visit places of worship. He is working tirelessly for residents and always listen to them. He always encourages fitness for his residents and creating cleaner spaces. Jagjit also does charity work for local and national causes.
